VELVET VOCALS.
A PEN WITH TEETH.

BAD DECISIONS.
BETTER SONGS.

ABOUT ANSÍRA

Ansíra is a Toronto-based singer-songwriter blending soul, alternative R&B and jazz-pop with sharp lyricism, emotional honesty and intimate storytelling. With extensive vocal training from the age of 12,  Ansíra studied classical and operatic voice before continuing her vocal studies at York University under jazz veteran and international performer, Lynn McDonald. Shaped by influences spanning Lauryn Hill, Sade and Amy Winehouse, Ansíra approaches songwriting with a storyteller's eye, turning complicated relationships, uncomfortable realizations and the conversations we replay long after they're over into songs.

Her work has caught the attention of industry veterans, award-winning songwriters and Recording Academy members, leading to select mentorship and artist development opportunities across Canada and the U.S. Named among the Top 10 Artists for Social Change by Arts Help, Honey Jam and Conscious Economics, Ansíra was also featured in SHIFTER Magazine's Rising Toronto Artists You Should Know and Follow, which praised her “strong yet effortless vocals” and described her music as “all about being timeless.”

Her artistry lives in contrast: vulnerability with a sense of humour, tenderness alongside blunt honesty, and velvet vocals delivering lyrics that aren't afraid to bite. Her forthcoming project, About Closure, explores almost-love, bad decisions and unfinished endings, examining what happens when closure isn't given neatly and the stories we tell ourselves while trying to move on.

Vulnerable, witty and painfully self-aware, Ansíra makes music for anyone who's ever known better and needed a little more time to do better.
